Man Booker holds a meeting for her first Arab novel to win the prize with Alif Shafak

The Man Booker International Prize will host a meeting between Omani writer Joachah Al-Harithi, writer Alif Shafak and translator Marilyn Booth as part of the celebration of the first Arab novel to win the Man Booker International Prize. English, valued at £ 50,000.

Bethany Hughes, chair of the 2010 Man Booker International Prize jury, said that the Moon Ladies had broken the tired clichés of writing about race, slavery and sex, as well as raising the forces that freed us from the constraints that bound us.

The Man Booker International Award for 2019 has already mentioned that short-list novels represent six foreign languages, translated into English: Arabic, French, German, Polish and Spanish.
