Telecom Egypt: We aim to connect Fiber to homes
Eng. Adel Hamed, CEO of Telecom Egypt, said that the replacement of fiber optic cables with copper cables is a nationwide extension, adding that the company is working to upgrade the efficiency of the lines, which has connected the fiber to the units of Msan and aim in the next phase to connect the fiber to homes.
Hamed said in a special statement to the "seventh day" that the fiber spread throughout the republic not only to prepare for the fifth generation mobile or to support the fourth generation technology, but also to support the Internet things and connect smart cities.
Telecom Egypt has completed the delivery of some 670 government buildings in Port Said Governorate, including 700 fiber optic cable service offices, at a cost of LE 86 million. This is part of the State strategy for digitizing and enabling citizens to obtain digital services. Governorates of digital transformation as a pilot model.
The second phase of the digital transformation will involve about 5 new governorates that will be connected to fiber optic cables and given higher speeds in data transmission than traditional copper cables.
The government intends to launch about 25 government services electronically starting from June 30, beginning with about 8 services in Port Said Governorate and then the rest of the services gradually in preparation for generalizing the order in the different governorates.
