Former financial star Frederic Omar Kanoute, a former Sevilla player, has launched a fundraising campaign to build a new mosque in the Spanish city of Seville in the heart of Andalusia.

Kanoute has launched a new campaign to raise 300,000 euros to renovate the site and build a new mosque, which has been matched by a number of players such as Manchester City star Benjamain Mende.

Kanouti managed to raise half of the required amount by the holy month of Ramadan, as he seeks to start the new mosque project, which will be the first mosque there for the first time in 700 years.
