A development library in Cairo, in cooperation with Dar Al Adab in Beirut, will publish an Egyptian edition of the novel "Women of the Moon," which last week won the International Book Book Prize by Omani writer Joukhah Al Harati.


It was the first time since Man Booker International was established in 2005 that an Arab writer wins the award. Al-Harithi is also the first Omani novelist to translate her work into English.


Mahmoud Lutfi, Director of the Development Library said: "The novel will be available for sale in the library within days in its Egyptian edition, at a special price suitable for the Egyptian reader".


He pointed out that the library received requests from its clients to make the novel available and distributed in Egypt. A joint agreement was reached with Dar Al-Adab to strengthen the previous cooperation with it, and resulted in Egyptian editions of the works of Alif Shafak and Isabelle Allende. "

The novel "Moon Women" by Omani novelist Joukhha Al-Harthy won last week's Man Booker International Award for best English translated work for her novel "The Moon Ladies," translated by Marilyn Booth into English, "Celestial Bodies."


The "Moon Ladies" recounts the lives of three sisters who witness the development of Omani society after the colonial era. The novel also deals with the issue of slavery in Oman.
