American women's football stars lead a training workshop in Egypt
US women's football stars Linda Hamilton and Tiffany Mary Roberts are leading a training workshop for players and coaches from the Egyptian Premier League teams from May 12-16. They are co-led by retired American football star Jeffrey Alain Agus.
The visit of the three Americans to Egypt, according to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Cairo, Monday, under the program of sports envoys of the US Department of State in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The workshop focuses on the important role of trainers in empowering players in and out of the field, and will provide an opportunity for American and Egyptian participants to exchange ideas on the latest techniques in football training. To review and enhance the training skills taught at the training workshops, the participating teams will play five games throughout the week and the final match will take place on May 16 at Al Jazira Youth Center.
Acting US Ambassador Thomas Goldberger said: "As the World Cup approaches women's football, we are delighted to host these outstanding American coaches in Cairo." Linda Hamilton is a retired American footballer and former member of the national women's football team. She is currently the head of the women's football team at the Southwestern University in Texas. Tiffany Mary Roberts is an American football coach and former defender and winner of the Olympic gold medal. She was also a member of the 1999 US national team which won the 1999 Women's World Cup..
And Jeffrey Alain Agus, a retired US footballer who is one of the most prominent leaders of the national men's football team ever. Agus has served as sports director of Red Bulls in New York and is currently vice-president of the Grand Prix (MLS)
