106 "investment fund" in Egypt with net assets of 47 billion pounds until the end of 2018

Dr. Mohamed Omran, Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority [EFSA] announced that the number of funds operating in Egypt by the end of 2018 amounted to 106 investment funds, including one real estate investment fund. The net assets of investment funds reached 47 billion pounds, including the value of private equity funds. Banks represent the largest proportion of the total funds, with 88 funds.

Amran added that the number of private equity funds reached 6 funds with a net asset value of about 3.3 billion pounds in 2018 public offerings.

Private equity funds invest their money in restricted and non-restricted securities and may engage in venture capital activity. This is an important tool to provide financing for high risk and high value added projects.

Investment funds are investment vehicles that raise the capital of a group of investors and manage them in accordance with a specific investment strategy and objectives to achieve investment advantages that only one investor can achieve individually.
