US Ambassador: The development of sport in Egypt will make women's football popular

US Ambassador to Egypt Thomas Goldberger said on Thursday that there is interest in cooperation with Egypt in the field of sports, especially in the development of girls' mathematics.
"The Americans and the Egyptians love sport, so it was natural to cooperate in sports, because we see sport development as an important step for youth development, especially girls," Goldberger said.
Asked about the future of women's football in Egypt and the possibility of her becoming a popular game like in the United States, the Chargé d'affaires said that he expected it to happen in Egypt someday, "because sports in Egypt are developing and because girls are enthusiastic and will become more Competitive ".
The talks with the Ministry of Sports continue to cooperate in other areas of sports such as basketball, Goldberger said.
This is part of the cooperation of the US Embassy and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt for the first time through the contract of American women's football stars Linda Hamilton and Tiffany Mary Roberts training workshops for Egyptian coaches to enable the players inside and outside the stadium, during their visit to Egypt under the program of sports envoys of the US State Department.
The tournament was attended by eight teams from the Premier League, namely "Media Club, Egyptian Club of Cairo, Aviation Club, Wadi Degla Club, Club of Maadi and Yacht, Club of the Media Foundation, Youth Center of Aqaba, and the Amiri Youth Center."
The tournament ended with the victory of Wadi Degla on the Emiri Youth Center 5-3 in the final on Thursday, and received the Women's Cup.
