University hospitals treat 17 million patients and carry out 250,000 operations per year

During a meeting of the House of Representatives' Budget and Budget Committee, chaired by Dr. Hussein Issa, Chairman of the Committee, the representative of the government stressed the importance of the role played by university hospitals, and that university hospitals treat 17 million patients, carry out 250,000 operations and eliminate waiting lists annually.

Eng. Yasser Omar Sheiba, Deputy of the Committee on Planning and Budget in the House of Representatives, has questioned the adequacy of what has been allocated to university hospitals in the draft general budget of the State for the fiscal year 2019/2020, where allocations amounted to about 13.5 billion pounds.

In a related context, Dr. Hussein Issa, Chairman of the Committee of Plan and Budget, said that 3 years ago, the Committee is keen to support the budget of university hospitals in each financial year, stressing the importance of university hospitals in providing medical service to millions of citizens.
