The Agricultural Pesticides Committee started the implementation of the training program on how to withdraw samples from fruit crops to detect pesticide residues in several crops, especially guava, in several governorates, with the participation of many agricultural engineers trainees in the Central Department of Horticulture and Pest Control. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Meguid, Chairman of the Pesticides Committee, said in a statement to the "Seventh Day" that the training course aims to identify the application of good practices during the different stages of agriculture until the production stage for guava and strawberry producers to determine the status of pesticide residues in both crops to ensure the quality of the final product Any pesticides not approved for pesticide residues in agricultural crops.
The report pointed out that the training program depends on the participation of orchards engineers and pest control as a target province according to the training program, which includes training the engineers on the methods of sampling samples of guava and strawberries, and to send them to the specialized laboratories, pointing out that this aims to know the type of pesticides used and their impact on the crops.
The training program aims to provide an indicative package of technical recommendations to farmers using pesticides effective in eradicating the pest, disease or insect. The pesticide residue will be kept for less than the harvest period. The training will be conducted at the Central Pesticides Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Abdelmajeed, The training is conducted under the supervision of the laboratory teachers and heads of the central departments of pests and orchards. The program also aims to identify the operations of cheating and smuggling of pesticides or the use of banned pesticides or pesticides not recommended for horticultural crops.
