The representative of "communications" before the parliament: the law of personal data has an economic dimension
Head of the Legislation and Legislation Committee at the Ministry of Communications, Mohammad Hijazi, said that the draft law protecting the personal data submitted by the government has an economic dimension.
This came during a meeting of the Communications and Information Technology Committee in the House of Representatives, on Sunday, under the chairmanship of MP Ahmad Badawi, during the discussion section XIV (Crimes and penalties) of the draft law on the protection of personal data.
Hegazy added that the government did not draft the law only for 20 or 30 international companies operating in Egypt, but also for the Egyptian entities. "For the first time in the history of Egyptian legislation, we put in place a data protection law, while we installed the rocket."
The head of the Legislation Committee at the Ministry of Communications, said that the draft law comes in line with European standards in this context, noting that the first period of implementation of the bill will see the lifting of many of the issues, is it in the interest of tightening the penalty in the first phase of implementation?"He said.
