A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers and the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council on the initiative of measuring the competitiveness of the governorates within the framework of the vision of Egypt 2030 which aims at achieving a balanced and diversified competitive economy. According to a press release on Friday, the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the vision of Egypt 2030 and the state is directed towards supporting decentralization, pointing out that the real development takes place at the governorate level, and that each governorate has a certain competitive advantage. He pointed to the use of international standards and the development of local standards. , Stressing that the National Council for Competitiveness since its establishment plays an important and effective role in supporting the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and is the first to call for the initiative to launch the "Competitiveness Index of the Governorates" as one of the initiatives related to the framework of the Egyptian competitiveness strategy. The Council was prepared by the Prime Minister during 2009, and later the initiative was presented during the eighth Egyptian Competitiveness Report, which was launched during 2010.

He added that this initiative is especially important at the national level because Egypt's Vision 2030 is based on a competitive and balanced economy and aims to promote Egypt's competitiveness by improving all competitive indicators.

Saif Fahmy, Chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council, stressed that enhancing Egypt's competitive performance is important as it contributes to sustainable economic growth that creates decent job opportunities and high incomes and improves the standard of living of citizens. By the state, giving a strong message to the international business community that Egypt has the ingredients to make it a distinct destination for investment.

The Council is the first non-governmental, non-profit organization to take responsibility for addressing the issues of competitiveness in Egypt and the Middle East, and the only institution that is competitive in terms of competitiveness. "This agreement will be an important step towards strengthening Egypt 's competitive performance and motivating the provinces to improve their competitive performance.
