Parliamentary proposal to tighten driving license tests to reduce the spread of accidents in Egypt

MP Amal Rizkallah, a member of the House of Representatives, submitted a request for a proposal to the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior to tighten the tests for obtaining driving licenses to reduce road accidents in Egypt.
The deputy said in her request that the road accidents spread in Egypt during the recent period, which prompted it to occupy the top rank in the list of countries most prone to accidents, which requires taking several serious measures to maintain the safety of citizens. Follow-up: "Global statistics indicate that nearly 1.3 million people lose their lives in road accidents annually, of which 12 thousand deaths in Egypt alone, according to the Statistics Authority recorded road accidents 4 thousand and 426 during the first half of 2018, remains high, The number of deaths from accidents of the past six months 1560 people. "
The MP pointed out that the statistical reports confirmed that the largest percentage of victims of road accidents in Egypt in 2018 were young people in the age group 25 to 44 years, 270 of them make up 43.5% of the total dead, and the category of 45 to 64 years later by 22.7% and 141 Died, followed by the age group between 20 and 24 years by 13.5% and 84 deaths. Car accident deaths among children aged 5-14 years were 3.2% in 20 cases, and infants and children up to 4 years were 1.6% in 10 cases.
A member of the House of Representatives explained that the traffic accidents in Egypt have a number of reasons, including lack of commitment to the rules of driving, poor condition of some roads, and lack of care to maintain periodic maintenance of cars, but one of the main reasons is the lack of rehabilitation of drivers. She therefore asked for approval of her proposal to tighten driving license tests to reduce the incidence of road accidents in Egypt and to reconsider driving tests again, especially since the current method does not clearly reveal the extent to which the examiner can drive.
"The leadership schools of the Ministry of the Interior must provide a strategy through which to reduce the burden and to graduate a generation that knows the fundamentals and the arts of leadership," said Amal Rizkallah.
