The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Tuesday issued a press release on the occasion of the International Family Day, corresponding to 15 May each year, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 to call for attention to the family and urged all countries and official and non-official bodies to work to raise the standard of living of the family To be an effective unit in the overall development and achievement of development goals.
This year, under the theme "Families, Work and Climate," we are focusing on Goal 13 of sustainable development goals SDG13"We review the government's efforts in the social protection programs for families, according to the statement issued by the Statistics Authority, which pointed out that one of the most prominent and most recent programs was the 100 million health program launched by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The aim of the president's program is "100 million health", to examine all citizens and early detection of hepatitis C infection in all governorates of the republic, diabetes, hypertension and obesity, and to guide those who are detected for free treatment in various units and hospitals in the Republic.
This is in addition to the efforts of the government in the field of social protection of families and out of poverty, through the program of "Takaful and dignity", Which aims to improve the lives of poor families through cash transfers paid monthly and provide health and educational services for children and mothers, as well as the extraction of ration cards and bread support.
The program also improves the infrastructure of dilapidated households deprived of drinking water and sanitation, as well as the protection of the elderly, the disabled, orphans, divorcees, widows and other groups worthy of living in dignity. "Health care for the needy".
The "Health Care for the Poor" program aims to provide health care and health insurance for school students. A new program, "Health Care for the Poor," which was also launched in Upper Egypt in March 2015, targets health coverage for the poorest of the poor, (C virus).
And the Women's Economic Empowerment Program, are also part of the government's social protection programs for Egyptian families. In this context, on the occasion of the International Day of the Family, the Census Bureau's statement referred to the number of Egyptian families, which is about 24.3 million families, of whom about 10.8 million are urban dwellers, 44.3%, and about 13.5 million are rural residents, about 55.7% The number of families, as the statement pointed to the age structure of family members, which came as follows:
– 34.2% of household members in the age group less than 15 years.
– 26.8% in the youth group from 15 to 29 years.
– 35.1% of persons of working age from 30 to 64 years.
