MP Tariq Metwally: Power generation of sewage treatment waste attracts investment

Tarek Metwally, a member of the Chamber of Industry's Industry Committee, said that with the increasing quantity of wastewater produced annually, the power generation sector from sewage is a promising opportunity to attract investments in the field of electricity generation and fertilizer production.

The member of the House of Representatives praised the experience of Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, which was able to produce fertilizers and biogas gas, by reusing the remaining solid waste from the process of sewage treatment, or what is known as sludge, pointing out the benefits of many, including the production of organic fertilizer of high quality, And the production of biogas gas, which can be used to generate the necessary electrical power, to run sewage treatment plants, and the export of surplus to the electricity grid.

He called for the generalization of the Kafr El-Sheikh experiment on all drinking water and sanitation companies at the level of Egypt, and participation with the private sector in the implementation of these projects, to contribute in providing the necessary funding.
