Margret Azer calls for the modernization of educational curricula dealing with Egyptian customs and traditions

MP Margaret Azer, a member of the Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives, said the role of the National Commission to deal with female genital mutilation should focus on eradicating a long-standing culture and focusing on religious discourse that this practice is not part of religion.
She called on Ezer to include in the educational curricula a study book on Egyptian customs and traditions, in which the habits of the Egyptians and their advantages and disadvantages are monitored and studied, including this negative habit and what we suffer from.
She stressed that the committee should look at how to reach a true religious discourse through the media, religious community and education, stressing that citizens should also be made aware of the law and its provisions. "We have leapt in the phenomenon of female genital mutilation but we still suffer from it and need to eradicate it completely."
