The conquest of Mecca (also called the Great Conquest) is an invasion that took place on the twentieth of Ramadan in the eighth year of migration.

Muslims were able to open the city of Mecca and annex it to the state.

The reason for the invasion is that the tribe of Quraish violated the truce that was between them and the Muslims, by helping the allies of the sons of the Dalal bin Bakr bin Abdul Manat bin Kenana in the raid on the tribe of Khuza'a who are the allies of Muslims, and thus ended the covenant with the Muslims,

In response, the Prophet peace be upon him prepared an army of ten thousand fighters to open Mecca.

The army moved until Mecca arrived in Salma without a fight except what was on the part of the Muslim leader Khaled ibn al-Walid, as some of the men of Quraysh led by Akrama ibn Abi Jahl tried to confront the Muslims. Khalid fought them and killed twelve of them, and the rest of them escaped, killing two Muslims.

When the Messenger came down in Makkah and reassured the people, the Kaaba came and flew to it, and he challenged the idols that were around it with a bow that was with him. He said, "The truth came and the falsehood was lost.

He saw the pictures and statues in the Kaaba and ordered them to be broken. When the prayer came, the Prophet, Bilal ibn Rabah ordered him to ascend and he gave permission from the Kaaba.

It was the result of the conquest of Mecca to embrace many of its people the religion of Islam, including Sayed Quraish and Kanaan Abu Sufyan bin Harb and his wife Hind Bint Atab, as well as Akrama bin Abi Jahl and Yeheil bin Amr, Safwan and the mother of Abu Qahafa father of Abu Bakr, and others.
