Keep away from evil and gniloa .. Study warns of sugary drinks and fruit juice

Most people know that sugary drinks are not healthy, but a new study found that fruit juices are not much better.

According to the website of the Daily Mail, the researchers said that consumption of beverages containing sugar regularly may help to shorten life.

"Older people who drink more sugary drinks, including fruit juice, soft drinks and other sugary beverages, may be at risk of premature death," said study author Dr. Jean Welch, professor of nutrition at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

"Consumption of soft drinks and other sweetened beverages such as fruit juices should be reduced, especially among adults and children," Welch said.

To confirm the results, the researchers analyzed data from more than 13,000 men and women, aged 64, who were part of the large stroke study from 2003 to 2007, of whom 71% were obese or overweight.

Participants were asked about the number of sweetened beverages consumed by them over a period of six years and 1168 participants died.

The researchers found that those who drank most sweetened beverages – including 100 percent fruit juice – had a higher risk of dying during school than those who drank less.

The researchers added that the whole juice contains some nutrients, which may be beneficial for health, but also contains relatively high amounts of sugar from natural sources, raising the risk of heart disease and sugar.

The report was published online in the May issue of JAMA Network Open.
