A security source said that the traffic department provided the new cameras for officers who monitor their work while they are in ambushes and follow up the traffic situation on the roads. The traffic departments of Luxor, Beni Suef, Ismailia, Matrouh, Minya, Aswan, Fayoum, Suez and Alexandria were supported by 450 cameras, The cameras have proved successful in the experiment, and will be circulated to the governorates of Cairo and Giza, which requested 225 cameras to provide officers in the ambushes traffic on the roads.
The source added that these cameras will be circulated to the officers of the General Administration of Traffic on highways during the next month in other traffic departments in the provinces. These cameras will have a 16-hour recording feature that will document all events and will be shipped again after being unloaded daily. These cameras are connected to the control room inside the traffic departments and are periodically unloaded. In the event of committing a particular incident, they will be dealt with strictly to monitor the perpetrator and the protected person.
The source pointed out that the Traffic Department aims to generalize these cameras by distributing them to the officers deployed on all roads, which number more than 3 thousand officers, and cameras are recording all what is happening with video and audio day and night, and monitor the treatment of officers with citizens efficiently and assess the performance of officers In addition to filming traffic violations, because they are equipped with a feature to photograph events and facts, and document them immediately after they occur, and transfer them directly to the traffic management operations room, to ensure the transfer of a live and direct image of the site of the event, and provides the opportunity to intervene quickly, to contain any position in a timely manner.
