Health directorates in the governorates are demanding an increase in budgets for medicines and maintenance

The Health Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives discussed during its meeting on Sunday the draft general budget and economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2019/2020, with regard to the directorates of health affairs in the governorates.

The meeting witnessed demands for representatives of the health directorates in the governorates to increase their budgets, especially with regard to the items of medicines, medical supplies, maintenance, hygiene, infrastructure development, extraordinary efforts and nutrition.

The Health Affairs Committee listened to the demands of representatives of the directorates of health in the different governorates. Dr. Khalid Jamal, Director of the Damietta Health Directorate, said that there is a delay in the reinforcements provided to the hospital to meet its needs and the insurance benefits. Occupational safety and health, and the promotion of equipment, supplies, hygiene, security and guarding.

While the representative of the Health Directorate in Alexandria, an increase in the item of medicines by 15 million pounds, because there are debts on the Directorate, and in the maintenance item by 5 million pounds, and in the item of goods inputs increase one million pounds.

While the representative of the Directorate of Health Affairs in the province of North Sinai to support the Directorate of large amounts in the budget to be able to provide health service and meet the needs of patients, pointing out that the Directorate does not have resources because they provide health service by 90% of them free of charge given the conditions and conditions in Sinai, Raw materials, commodities and maintenance.

The head of the Health Affairs Directorate in South Sinai, Khaled Abu Hashim, thanked the Ministry of Finance, stressing that during the past period they receive full support. He called for increasing the budget of the Directorate from 44 million to 55 million pounds, as there is an increase in the number of doctors and pharmacists this year with 400 doctors and pharmacists. New assignments, also called for an increase in items of extraordinary efforts, food, maintenance item increased by 7 million pounds, hygiene and security by 14 million, increase the internal transfer item.

Dr. Hamdy El-Tabakh, Director of the Directorate of Health in Qalioubiya, called for increasing the budget of the Directorate, as four hospitals in the governorate are entering a development stage.
