Government report: implementation of a decent housing program in 200 villages in "Minya, Assiut, Sohag and Qena"
A government report revealed the amount of work carried out in the program "decent housing" since the start of the program in the beginning of 2018 until last April at the level of the provinces of implementation of the first phase are the governorates of Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and Luxor, in the first phase, where the program to meet the needs of about 57 thousand families at the level 200 villages worth more than 326 million pounds and that during this period has been the rehabilitation of the number of 1204 houses and roofing of 3797 houses in addition to the extension of 6437 and pure water and sanitation of 44757 and the governorates of Luxor and Menia was the first provinces of the project in the size of interventions followed by Qena, Through its work, the program provided more than 700,000 working days.
The project, which was launched by the ministry, aims at improving the housing, living and environment conditions of poor families registered in the Takaful and Dignity Database, to make these houses a decent housing that provides the basic conditions of dignity and humanity and allows the poorest and poorest families to live in environmental conditions. The report added that 350 million pounds is the amount of funding currently available for the program, of which 200 million pounds from the ministry and about 50 million from the NGOs and 100 million pounds from the Ministry of Awqaf, as in April last year witnessed the continuation of the implementation of the program's interventions where the rehabilitation of 1204 houses and the roofing of 1000 houses For the most well-cared-for families in the governorates of Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and Luxor, and 3229 domestic water supply links were implemented in villages in Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and 1000 internal links for drinking water in Minya. 1750 external links are being implemented in Minya, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and 5592. With sanitation in the villages of Minya, Sohag and Qena, in addition to the implementation of 1370 internal sewerage link in Sohag and 3800 internal sewage link in Qena. In addition, 39165 sewage connections were implemented in the five governorates of the Ministry of Local Development and Planning and one of the civil associations at a total cost of LE 145 million.
The report pointed out that the implementation of the components of the program in the targeted areas has been strengthened capacities of NGOs and local community development associations in the management of social protection initiatives or small enterprises, noting that the preparation is underway for the second phase of the project during the second half of this year to include the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, In addition to completing work in the governorates of the first phase
