For fear of being accused of harassment. 60% of men fear being alone with female employees

science and technology

As more women have begun to talk about sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace, female staff have a new threat to their profession, which is being avoided by their male bosses.

A new study by the organization found LeanIn Affiliate of Sheryl Sandberg, Director of operations at Facebook, which advocates equal pay and opportunities for men and women, said 60 percent of male managers in the United States feared interviewing their female colleagues and female employees.

"Men in many companies are afraid to be alone with women," Sandberg told Julia Burstein in an interview with CNBC on Friday.

Sandberg points out that senior male managers are also reluctant when it comes to working travel with female employees, as well as private dinners, and that number has been rising since last year, up 33%.

What this means is that a large percentage of male managers do not direct their employees, but avoid them. Sandberg said: "The problem is that women did not actually get the same guidance that their male managers had before"

"Men and women must be able to travel together, and they should be able to go to meetings together and go eat meals together without fear."

If a man is afraid of wrongly being accused of wrongdoing, which is rare in statistical terms, Sandberg points out that a dinner is happening to everyone.
