Europe's bourses plummet after Beijing is hinting at the use of rare metals in its war with Washington

Economy and stock exchange

European bourses fell on Wednesday after warnings by the European Central Bank of the consequences of the trade war, as well as Beijing's flag of rare metals exports in its conflict with Washington.

The central bank warned, according to Russia's position today, that trade tensions pose the greatest threat to global growth, which could destabilize the financial system in the euro area.

In addition, markets were gripped by concern after Chinese newspapers warned that Beijing was ready to impose restrictions on exports of rare metals to the United States, prompting anxious investors towards safe havens.

On the other hand, the European Stoxx 600 index shed 0.9%, while Germany's DAX, which is heavily influenced by trade news, fell 1% and French CAC 40 fell 1.2%.
