Egyptian delegation participates in the work of the General Assembly of the Meeting of Ministers of Health of Non-Aligned Countries

Egypt is keen to participate in the annual meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, where it attaches great importance to the role of the movement in dealing with developments in the field of public health over the past years, in addition to the current agenda items of the World Health Assembly. The level of universal health coverage, the issue of access to medicines and the transformation plan of the Organization, related to the reform of the United Nations system, the role of the Organization in the implementation of the goals of sustainable development and the draft budget of the Organization for 2010/2021.
This came during the participation of the delegation of Egypt in the work of the General Assembly of the Meeting of Ministers of Health of the Non-Aligned Countries, on the sidelines of their participation in the 72nd session of the General Assembly of World Health at the United Nations Headquarters in the Swiss capital, Geneva.
The Egyptian government places priority on achieving comprehensive health coverage and implementing the goals of sustainable development on the African continent. It is a priority that the government is striving to achieve in the African continent during Egypt's current presidency of the African Union. In the context of the FAO Strategic Program for the Work of the Organization for the period 2019/2023, which includes, among its three main axes, the promotion of access to universal health coverage by one billion people around the world.
The Delegation stressed the importance of the continuation of the Organization's important role in providing technical assistance, especially to low- and middle-income countries, while constantly increasing them in the light of the increasing challenges facing them and the difficulty of individual governments achieving the goals of improving public health, .
"While acknowledging the important role of the Organization in the development of public health and in strengthening the response to health crises and emergencies around the world, the Organization should be encouraged to continue to develop its efforts in this area and to provide the necessary funding, Of the Organization.
The issue of drug access and associated technological knowledge was central to the process of promoting universal health coverage and the efforts of Governments and WHO could not bear fruit without facilitating the availability of medicine and health technology to the peoples of both developed and developing countries.
The Organization's hard work in containing the Ebola virus deserves our appreciation, especially in the very difficult circumstances in which humanitarian relief teams operate, in terms of deteriorating security conditions and logistical difficulties in reaching some of the affected areas. – As part of the package of reforms adopted to strengthen its response to health crises and emergencies – able to stop the spread of the epidemic.
Egypt was concerned about the deteriorating health conditions in the Palestinian territories, in light of the restrictions imposed on the movement of Palestinians, the obstacles to the slow access to medicines, vaccines and medical supplies, and the severe deterioration in health conditions in the Gaza Strip caused by the Israeli blockade for many years. Egypt to provide all possible facilities to assist the citizens of the Gaza Strip in general and in the field of health in particular, in terms of opening the Rafah border crossing and sending medical assistance, and we look forward to all the countries giving support to the Palestinians in all the occupied Palestinian territories and in Qata Stressing the importance of continuing to counter any attempts to change the status of the item on health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories on the agenda of the General Assembly.
