MP Ahmad al-Sejaini, chairman of the local administration committee in the House of Representatives, called for the first steps of the government's implementation of its solid waste management plan to restructure the Giza and Cairo cleaning authorities and turn them into viable and profitable companies.

He pointed out that the actual implementation of the solid waste management plan requires the completion of the legislation associated with it, including the rapid dispatch of the solid waste law next to the law of hygiene fees sent to Parliament already, to complete the legislative tools of the new system.

He praised the directives of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi in this regard as a "new glimmer of hope" that the file opened by the local administration committee three years ago has now been put on the table of the president and draws attention to it, which gives great hope in institutional reform.

He stressed that what the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Environment presented to the committee supports the programs and visions and conforms to the committee's vision for solid waste management, considering that the biggest challenge is to implement them on the ground and to achieve the institutional development in the field.
