The Bolivian Football Federation is awaiting the results of a medical report on the death of referee Victor Hugo Hurtado, who was leading a match on a pitch in Alto, more than 4,000 meters above ground, to see if the rise was behind his death.

"I do not want to speculate on the reasons for the death of the referee. There are people waiting to take advantage of this incident. I want to know how Hurtado's death was based on a medical report," CESAR president Cesar Salinas said in remarks reported by local media.

He added that the union would form a "committee of four specialists to analyze causes of death."

Victor Hugo Hurtado was leading a game at a stadium that had seen several protests over his home.

The Bolivian referee fell to the ground in the 54th minute of a meeting between Allys Racing and Oriente Petrolero in the Bolivian League. The medical staff tried to help the referee with a sudden heart attack and was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The match was held in the city of Alto, near the Bolivian capital of La Paz, at an altitude of 4,150 meters above the surface of the earth, a height doctors are not recommended to play at all.
