A project to protect the coasts uses technologies from the environment for the first time in Egypt

For the first time, the government started to use the output of the Damietta port navigation channel to be used for coastal protection works, to establish giant sedimentation basins near the western barrier of the port with a capacity of about 600,000 cubic meters, To become a strategic stock used in the sand-feeding work in the areas adjacent to the port, according to the results of laboratory tests.

The government has launched two contracts for the construction of 14 km of protection bridges on the shores of Kafr El-Sheikh governorate. Implementation is expected to begin within the next few weeks.

It is worth noting that the government is implementing a new project in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program [UNDP] and the Green Climate Fund to protect the lowlands of the Nile Delta from the risk of rising sea levels up to 69 km over the next five years and developing an integrated plan for managing the northern coast of Egypt.
