A New York school uses facial recognition technology to capture arms carriers
A school in New York is preparing to implement a surveillance system to detect weapons and identify faces. The school was the first to install the Aegis camera system last October and will now begin testing.
The security system aims to operate widely in all secondary schools and junior high schools in the region and six primary schools by September 1, 2019. They can detect weapons in their recorded videos and reference characters in their safety databases.
Some parents and conservatives objected to the privacy of this system, for fear of violating the privacy of students.
The first phase of the system will include training staff to deal with and know how to use it, and then it will be applied throughout Lockport County.
Members of the local councils will cooperate with lawmakers to find out how to deal, if someone is caught with a weapon that may harm him or harm the school.
The manufacturer describes the control system Aegis That he is able to alert officials at the school if there are crimes of assault on students or if one of them took weapons or anything that could harm the school and students.

How the system works
The system works by checking the faces and comparing them to the database. If the face is not identical, the device deletes it, but if it is identical, it sends a warning to the control center.
The document showed that the province had not yet obtained the permission of the local council before deciding to install the system.
The Civil Liberties Union in New York,NCLU) That there is still no way to access data collected from cameras or access to the faces entered.
