A deputy calls for the activation of child protection committees to protect them from begging in the streets

Policy

MP Anisa Hassouna, a member of the House of Representatives, called for activating the role of the child protection committees of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, stressing that despite the existence of child protection committees belonging to the National Childhood and Motherhood, its role is not effective in early detection of all social problems and diseases related to children.

Hasouna explained that there is a clear spread of child labor and exploitation of begging in the streets in many provinces, in violation of the law without interference from the Council or even trying to push the parties to States to intervene.

She stressed that the role of the committees in dealing with phenomena that are harmful to the child's right to enjoy childhood and raise him to become a good citizen, such as dropping out of education, child labor and the phenomenon of street children, has been missed.

She pointed out that there are no clear mechanisms for these committees in the protection of street children exposed to smoking and drugs, which led to the increase of negative phenomena in society, especially in the past four years.
