The anniversary of the establishment of the School of Fine Arts in Djerba Al-Jamamiz is due today, and it was due to Prince Yusuf Kamal, grandson of Mohammed Ali Pasha.
On the occasion of its opening, we publish 10 information about the school:
1. The school was opened on 12 May 1908.
2 – French sculptor "Geum Leblane" is the idea.
3 – The school opened on Darb Al Jamamiz Street in Real Estate No. 100.
4. The school did not require that expenses be provided and that they should not be restricted by age.
5. The school provided free drawing tools.
6 – Mahmoud Mukhtar, Yusuf Kamal, Ragheb Ayyad and Mohammed Hassan early applicants to the school.
7. In June 1910, its administration became under the supervision of the Egyptian National University
8. In October 1910 the school was attached to the Department of Technical Education at the Ministry of Education.
9- In 1923, Al-Madariyya was moved from its place at the Jamamis Road to the new road in Sayeda Zeinab Square until 1927.
10. In the same year, the Ministry of Public Education established the Preparatory School for Fine Arts before the abolition of the Egyptian Fine Arts School in Sidi Zeinab.
11- In 1928, the Higher School of Fine Arts was accepted by only those who completed their studies successfully in the preparatory school.
12. In 1936, a preparatory year was added to the four-year study period, after which the school system was abolished.
13. Accept admission to the school for those with a certificate of completion of secondary school after passing the examination of abilities.
14 – Villa was tested in Shubra Street Street Blender No. 11 in 1927 and then moved in August 1931 to 91 Giza Street and in September 1935 moved to its current location Ismail Mohamed Street No. 8 Zamalek Island in Cairo.
15- After the revolution of July 23, 1952, it became the Faculty of Fine Arts. It became the Ministry of Higher Education in 1961 after it was affiliated with the Ministry of Education and then joined Helwan University in October 1975.
