"The date of submission of the Naguib Mahfouz Prize for Fiction will be for three months, starting from October until December," said poet Ragab Al-Sawy, head of competitions and prizes of the Central Department of People and Committees.

Rajab Al-Sawy said in a special statement to "Seventh Day" that the date of announcing the award will be at the same time as the announcement of the winners of the 2018 State Awards.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Council of Culture, last December, decided to raise its financial value to 350 thousand pounds, and take the necessary actions towards the establishment of a regulation consistent with the laws governing the State awards and comply with international standards in nomination and arbitration and the formation of examination committees.

It is worth mentioning that the Naguib Mahfouz Prize returned 18 years later in 2017. At the time, the Supreme Council of Culture decided to change the criteria of the prize, including raising the value of the prize to 50,000 pounds instead of 25 thousand pounds, and opening the door to the progress of Arab literature.

The terms of the award were that the published version was published during 2016-2017 for Egyptians and Arabs residing abroad, that the age of the applicant should not exceed 45 years, and that the novel should not have been submitted for an award. The contestant will present four copies of the novel, Business mid-November 2017.

On June 14, the Naguib Mahfouz Prize in Rawaya was awarded equally by Ibrahim Ibrahim Issa, known as Ibrahim Issa, for the novel "The Blood Journey" and the novelist Sobhy Amin Abdel Sayed Musa, known as "Sobhy Mousa" for the novel "Point System".
