Diabetics are more likely to be cirrhosis of the deadly liver

NEW YORK [Reuters Health] – People with type 2 diabetes are more likely to develop liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, a new study shows.
The study, which included 18 million people from all over Europe, indicated that people with type 2 diabetes were particularly at risk of the silent disease and should be closely monitored to prevent the development of the life-threatening disease.
"Doctors who treat diabetics have a lot to look at – eye, kidney and heart risk, but we should not ignore the liver, which requires our diabetic patients to lose weight," said Naveed Starr, one of the researchers.
