Education calls on Parliament to conduct a community dialogue on the Education Professions Bill

Dr. Mohamed Omar, Deputy Minister of Education, announced the Ministry's approval in principle of the draft law of the Union of Educational Professions, subject to the presentation of the draft law for community dialogue.

He pointed out during his participation in the meeting of the Committee on Education and Scientific Research in the House of Representatives, headed by Deputy Sami Hashim, that this project addresses the masses of teachers, so must consult the opinion of all specialists through the holding of hearings.

For his part, Dr. Sami Hashim, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Scientific Research in the House of Representatives, that the Committee completed some articles of the law and is completed during this week to discuss the rest of the articles, pointing out that the legislation aimed at the benefit of teachers.

He pointed out that a number of bodies such as the Ministries of Education, Finance and Justice have been invited to formulate the articles in a disciplined manner to prevent any inconsistencies, as well as to comply with the legislation with any agreements related to teachers.

The draft law aims at defining the objectives of the educational professions union, most notably raising the level of the profession of education and teachers. It also defines the method of electing the boards of trade union committees, sub-syndicates and public trade unions.

The project proposes that the pensioners have the right to representation in the educational professions union under specific conditions. Half of the members of the boards of directors who have worked in the education profession should be less than 15 years and the other half of those who have been more than that period to achieve the appropriate representation and mix between Experience and youth.

The draft law also specifies the resources of the union and how it can be developed in order to assist it in achieving the objectives it is entrusted to implement.
