"World Tourism" warns: plastic kills 100 thousand a year of marine organisms

The World Tourism Organization [WTO] has called on tourists around the world not to engage in practices harmful to aquatic life in the seas and oceans, in particular the dumping of plastic materials that have serious damage to marine organisms, one of the most important tourism resources.

"Every year, 13 million tons of plastic waste is leaked to the oceans, causing serious environmental damage to aquatic life, the most serious of which is the killing of 100,000 marine organisms a year," the organization said on its official website on Facebook. , Tourism is much more than travel. While calling on the World Tourism Organization to adopt this positive behavior, the Red Sea Governorate started implementing a decision to ban the use of plastic in the province, which has caused a worldwide boom in the tourism sectors to promote Egypt as a tourist destination that preserves the environment.

The "La Plastics" initiative launched by the Governor of the Red Sea, Major General Ahmed Abdullah, began in June, and companies and individuals will have to switch to paper products and reusable packaging in the future, to protect wildlife and marine life and to conserve endangered species. From plastic, either by ingestion, suffocation, drowning or poisoning from plastic residues, which in turn affects human health.
