Statistics: The average weekly wage in the private sector rises to LE877 in 2018

According to official data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the average weekly wage for the sector during the week 2018 is 877 pounds, compared to 779 pounds in 2017, while the average for public sector / public business amounted to 1278 pounds, compared to 1247 pounds in 2017.
According to the results of the annual bulletin of the statistics of employment, wages and working hours for 2018, the average weekly wages of workers in the public sector, public works and the private sector (10 workers and more) together amounted to 1104 pounds, while 1050 pounds in 2017.
The statistical data indicated the average weekly wage for male employees in the public sector, public works and the private sector, which reached 1120 pounds during 2018 compared to 1063 pounds in 2017, while the average for female workers amounted to 1022 pounds, compared to 985 pounds.
At the level of each sector, the average weekly wage for males working in the public sector / public business amounted to 1262 pounds in 2018, compared to 1227 pounds in 2017, while the female workers in the same sector amounted to 1392 pounds, compared to 1388 pounds.
In the private sector, the average weekly wage for males reached 911 pounds in 2018, compared to 815 pounds in 2017, while the females in the private sector reached 754 pounds, compared with 640 pounds in 2017.
In the same context, the statistical data referred to the highest activities and sectors that achieved the highest average weekly wage for their employees, whether compared to the rest of the activities during 2018, or compared to the average wage achieved in 2017. The activity of financial intermediation and insurance came in first place with an average of 3289 pounds 2018, compared to 3106 pounds in 2017.
On the level of other economic activities, the average weekly wage of workers was as follows:
– In the construction activity, the average amounted to 1315 pounds during 2018, compared to 1173 pounds in 2017.
– In the activity of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, amounted to 1374 pounds, compared to 1284 pounds.
– In the transport and storage activity, amounted to 1433 pounds, compared to 1244 pounds.
– In education activity, which recorded the lowest average weekly wage, amounted to 521 pounds, compared to 490 pounds.
The data also indicated that the average number of weekly work hours per employee in the public and private sector, and the private sector "10 workers and more", which amounted to 52 hours. In the detailed distribution of this average at each sector, The weekly work for workers in the public sector / public works, amounted to 50 hours, compared to 55 hours for workers in the private sector.
