Kuwait launches fifth generation services for telecom networks
Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah inaugurated the fifth generation 5G services for telecommunications networks, with the commercial launch of the new service scheduled for mid-June.
During his meeting with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al Saleh, Chairman of the General Authority for Communications and Information Technology Salim Al Atairina and members of the Board of Directors of the Authority, Of the developed countries in the provision of telecommunications and Internet services in the region.
He expressed his pride that Kuwait is one of the first countries in the region to provide the fifth generation services for telecommunications networks, which will open wide horizons for Internet Objects, while directing government agencies to take advantage of these developments in the infrastructure, Smart and electronic government.
For his part, the Chairman of the General Authority for Communications and Information Technology of Kuwait Salem Atria, completed the pilot operation of the fifth generation networks of mobile operators, after coordination with the Commission, indicating the readiness to launch the fifth generation commercially by mid-June.
Al-Atarin said in a press release that the provision of this service comes through the Authority's efforts to develop the telecommunications sector in Kuwait to keep up with the modern technological development of telecommunications in line with the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union and specialized international organizations. For more than two years, as well as in coordination with telecommunications operators operating for the mobile telecommunications service in Kuwait, and allow it to conduct experiments on this technology.
He added that the activation of this service comes as a continuation of the announcement of the organization of special frequency bands for this service in the frequency band 3.5 GHz in Kuwait, and allow mobile operators to conduct experiments to equip their networks to launch the fifth generation service, pointing out that the activation of the service makes Kuwait one of the first countries in the region and the world , Which organizes and operates this new technology, which will benefit the telecommunications sector in Kuwait.
He pointed out that the service applies the latest technology, to become a quantum leap in the world of communications; it will increase the speed of Internet access to high speeds, access to high amounts of data is unlimited, in addition to supporting the applications of Internet objects (IOT), and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and smart cities, which add value to the industrial, commercial, and financial sectors, as well as individuals.
