Planning: Updating Strategy 2030 due to local and international changes
The Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform organized a workshop to present the outcomes of Alexandria Dialogue sessions to explore the future of sustainable development in Egypt by 2050 in cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Office of the United Nations Resident Representative in Egypt at the National Planning Institute. The workshop was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform of Planning Affairs, Dr. Huwaida Barakat, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, Ministry of Planning, a number of former ministers, representatives of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as well as representatives of the United Nations.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali said that the Ministry of Planning has begun the process of updating the strategy of sustainable development: Egypt Vision 2030, pointing out that it is a state strategy based on the implementation of the government, civil society and the private sector in cooperation with academics and all groups of society.

During his speech at the workshop, Kamali added that there are many challenges and changes in Egypt, the region and the international arena, which imposed a different reality and it was therefore necessary to update the strategy.
The deputy minister of planning, follow-up and administrative reform, according to a press release on Friday, to adopt a scientific method in updating the strategy while working to identify the gaps in the strategy already exist and to identify what can be improved and can be replaced by the strategy, saying that work to update the vision is not over After where the access was almost halfway.

Kamali stressed the importance of community dialogues that are currently underway, as it will add to the process of updating the strategy to be guided by discussions and views during the dialogue in the process of modernization.
On the prospects and the extrapolating of the future, Kamali explained that not all quantitative expectations can be applied with complete accuracy, stressing that there are opinions of many experts can clarify things that the model can not explain, pointing to the importance of the workshop, which will contribute to the vision of the future, But it is difficult to put it in a model, stressing that experience and community participation are very important to extrapolate the future and determine what can be done to achieve a better future for Egypt.
