After Huawei crisis .. China plans to develop a system to protect technology security

science and technology

China plans to set up a system to ensure "national security" in terms of technology, amid a growing trade war with the United States that has hit Huawei recently.

According to the "phys" website, China's National Development and Reform Commission is charged with establishing an existing system to prevent and deal with national security risks more effectively. It did not say whether the move was linked to the trade war, but detailed procedures will be disclosed soon.

Washington and Beijing resumed their trade fight last month when US trade talks ended without agreement, and US President Donald Trump raised tariffs on Chinese goods worth $ 200 billion, which Beijing responded by raising its tariffs on billions of dollars worth of US goods.

Trade war has surged in recent weeks as Washington moves to list Huawei on national security concerns, threatening the company's global ambitions, a move that limits its access to the US-made components it needs for its equipment.

"Based on what I know, China is adopting a management mechanism to protect key technologies in China," said Hu Shijin, editor of China's Global Times. "This is a big step to improve its system, as well as a step to counter US repression."

China accuses Trump of wanting to block Huawei's development because the company is the world leader in mobile phone technology and does not face US competition.
