Bar Association chairman Sameh Ashour has fought a fierce battle in recent years to purge membership schedules from union members who do not practice the profession. Lawyers see they share their dues and put pressure on union resources.

During the last period, the General Union of Lawyers has continued its practical procedures to clean up its membership lists of those who have ceased to practice the profession and has set up review committees to examine the cases of members who are not committed to renewing them and to submit papers indicating their exploitation of the profession in recent years.

The "seventh day" monitors three cases that allow the bar association and its general council to drop the lawyer's entry or delete it from the membership tables, as follows:

1. The perpetrator committed a felony or a misdemeanor in breach of honor.

2 – to take up another job beside the profession of law.

3. The lawyer shall refrain from paying the union for two years.
