The continental free trade agreement enters into force at the end of this month

The Ministry of Industry and Trade stressed the need to accelerate the entry into force of the African Free Trade Agreement AFCefta To achieve economic integration and integration between the countries of the continent and to reach the stage of comprehensive strategic partnership to put the continent in its natural position on the map of the world economy, to develop economic, trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and African countries.

The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the file of hosting Egypt to the executive headquarters of the Secretariat of the African Free Trade AgreementAFCefta Which will enter into force at the end of this month after the signing and ratification of 22 countries, noting that the implementation of the African Free Trade Area Agreement will contribute to the development of intra-African trade and achieve higher rates of African economic growth after the removal of tariff barriers among African countries, And to achieve technological development, which enables the countries of the continent to compete in the international economic arena.
The ministry's plan to strengthen economic cooperation with the African countries is based on the participation of African countries in the Egyptian industrial and trade experiences, and to support the industrial cooperation projects between the Egyptian private sector and the private sector in the African countries.
The Ministry of Commerce pointed out that the year 2019, which presides Egypt for the African Union, represents an important point in the course of the Egyptian-African cooperation and joint African action, in light of the Egyptian government's keenness to establish joint projects for sustainable development in the African countries.
The agreement will contribute to the development of infrastructure and industrial development in the countries of the continent, as well as facilitate the movement of people and the transfer of technical expertise and services related to trade, which includes energy services, information and communication technology, financial and educational services, health and professional services of great importance for sustainable economic growth.
For her part, Ambassador Rosette Katungi, Regional Integration Adviser of the African Union [AU], said that the visit of the African Union delegation to Cairo comes within the framework of a series of field visits to the technical delegation to review the latest developments and preparations for the developed countries to host the executive headquarters of the African Free Trade Agreement AFCefta, Pointing out that the African Union Commission has set a number of criteria for selecting the appropriate country, especially the appropriate infrastructure, means of communication and logistics, and the availability of health and housing services.
On his part, Ambassador Khaled Amara, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Organizations and Societies, said that Egypt has submitted an integrated file to host the executive headquarters of the African Free Trade Agreement, which includes all the requirements and standards set by the African Union. Egypt is keen to host this headquarters to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the African countries, That Egypt is the largest African economy signed the agreement during the African Union summit in the Rwandan capital Kigali last year.
