Study: Increasing the intake of yoghurt daily reduces anxiety

Health and Medical

Probiotics are naturally occurring organisms in some foods also known as "good" or "friendly" bacteria, because they fight harmful bacteria and prevent them from stabilizing in the intestines.

Recent research suggests that mental disorders can be treated through the regulation of intestinal microorganisms, but there is no specific evidence to support this.

Researchers at Shanghai University Medical School found that the small intestine can help regulate brain function through the so-called "intestinal axis".

To reach this conclusion, the researchers reviewed 21 studies that looked at 1,503 people. The researchers found that probiotic supplementation in seven studies in their analysis contained only one type of probiotics, and two studies used a product containing two types of probiotics, including the supplements used in the other five studies At least three types .

Overall, 11 of the 21 studies showed a positive effect on anxiety symptoms through the regulation of intestinal microorganisms, which means that more than half of the studies (52%) showed that this approach is effective, out of 14 studies used probiotics as an intervention, (36%) were effective in reducing anxiety symptoms, while six of the remaining seven studies that used non-probiotic interventions found those effective – the effectiveness rate was 86%, and non-probiotic interventions were also more effective.
