South Korea is looking to classify online game addiction as a mental disorder

The South Korean government has announced that it will form an advisory body of health experts, gaming industry officials and civil society organizations to discuss the follow-up action to the World Health Organization's decision to classify game addiction as a mental disorder.
The Korea Times newspaper reported that the debate was unlikely to continue smoothly as gaming companies strongly protested the rating, which they claim will not solve the problem of addiction, but only harm the industry.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare indicated that it plans to establish an advisory body with ministries and experts concerned to discuss how to prepare relevant health systems, as well as how to counteract the adverse reaction of the gaming industry.
