The plan of sustainable development in the next fiscal year 2019/2020, increased allocations of the Ministry of Transport by 17%, in addition to the implementation of projects of more than 9 billion pounds, according to what was presented at a joint meeting of the ministries of planning and transport, the study of investment investment plan, Their bodies, banks and international financial institutions.
The plan includes the addition of 5 new stations to the list of operating underground stations, completing the third and fourth stages of the subway networks, and completing the construction of ten transverse axes on the Nile. The meeting referred to the positive shift witnessed by the transport sector, pointing out that the plan reviewed by the Ministry of Transport includes developmental steps in this important sector.
The meeting discussed the plan of the ministry regarding the subway, and the latest developments on the development of existing lines and lines under construction. The Ministry of Planning stressed its keenness to provide the necessary support to the Ministry of Transport to implement its objectives, develop and support the infrastructure of road and bridges networks, and develop railways and other projects within the Ministry of Transport, thus improving the livelihoods of the citizens in the first place.
The meeting reviewed the projects completed during the second quarter of the current fiscal year 2018/2019 and included 12 projects at a cost of 9.6 billion pounds. The Ministry of Transport also reviewed the investment plan for the different transport sectors (railways, underground, sea transport, roads and bridges, And dry – river transport).
The Ministry of Transport referred to its efforts in developing its sectors, which are the large contracts in the field of mobile units (rail cars), the development of signal systems to increase the safety and safety rates, the development of stations and sluices and renovations of infrastructure, , The start of the implementation of the electric train, the recent contracts to support the mobile units of the metro, and the implementation of the plan to develop the first and second lines. And the implementation of 7 major axes on the Nile, and the establishment of an alternative axis of the Aswan reservoir bridge, and the implementation of the third phase of the national project for roads, maintenance of the existing road network.
The ministry pointed out its efforts in establishing multi-purpose stations and new berths in Egyptian ports to maximize the utilization of maritime transport in support of the national economy, pointing out that work is under way to increase the capacity of ports by establishing a number of logistics centers and dry ports to maximize the services provided The establishment of a new network dedicated to the transport of goods, the linking of production areas in ports, the upgrading of river transport efficiency and the establishment of a number of river ports attached to logistic areas.
The Ministry pointed out that there is a plan being implemented to develop the land ports and the establishment of a number of dry ports, such as the ports of 6 October and 10 of Ramadan and Beni Suef, adding that it aims to implement structural reforms to raise the level of efficiency of service, and the existing investment cooperation with a number of international financial institutions Comes in this framework.
