Benitez clings to Newcastle and rejects Rome
World football
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has decided to take over from Roma to take over from next season.
Roma are sixth in the standings with 63 points, three points behind the Champions League semi-final, one round before the end of the competition.
The Italian club "Calcio Mercato" said Rome had offered Benitez the lead, replacing Claudio Ranieri, the current coach, who will leave after the end of the season.
Benitez refused to lead the wolves in the coming period, adding that the Spanish coach is close to renewing his contract with the English team.
Ranieri took over as coach of the former coach, Ezebio de Francesco.
