Agricultural committees to provide maize seeds for 2.5 million feddans during the summer season
Twenty-eight of the directorates of agriculture in the governorates of the Republic have continued to grow maize crops, especially yellow, with a target area of 2 million and 580,000 feddans, by intensifying their irrigated committees to provide the distribution of fresh, low-water and early-ripening seed varieties to increase production and reduce imports.
Dr. Alaa Khalil, Director of the Field Crops Institute of the Agricultural Research Center, said in a statement to the "Seventh Day" that the ministry prepared for the maize crop season by providing all seeds of early maturity, high productivity and low water consumption through the varieties to be cultivated this season according to the latest ministerial decision .
The director of field crops said that the state plan to expand the area of maize cultivated to meet the needs of the poultry industry of fodder and reduce the import of maize through high-productivity and registered varieties, noting that there are campaigns began to conduct awareness campaigns for farmers to increase the areas planted maize Yellow to expand the cultivated area this season to increase production.
