UAE to open 6,500 new hotel rooms in early 2020
A new report by Colliers International predicts that the UAE will open 6,500 additional hotel rooms by the end of the year before Expo 2020.
The report pointed out that the Emirate of Dubai witnessed the opening of two luxury hotels during the first quarter of 2019, bringing the total number of newly opened rooms to 1626 rooms.
The Abu Dhabi market saw an 11% rise in 2019, a significant improvement over the same period in 2017 and 2018. The Asian Cup in Abu Dhabi was the reason why the average daily price of hotels in Abu Dhabi.
With the expected opening of the Yas Marina Circuit (an indoor skating rink and climbing walls in 2019), Abu Dhabi is expected to boost its offerings to the leisure and sports tourism sectors.
Sharjah (219 rooms) and Abu Dhabi (113 rooms) opened one property each during the same period.
