The quarterfinal knot haunts Tunisia in Africa

World football

Tunisians dream of breaking the quarter-finals of the 2019 African Cup of Nations when their 19th appearance in the new edition of the tournament takes place from June 21 to July 19.

The Carthage Eagles are suffering from a chronic complex after failing to reach the quarter-finals since the 2004 edition. The continental competition has been allowed to play twice in the first round and four times in the quarter-finals.

Tunisia have reached the final of the African Nations Cup three times in their history, winning only one game in 2004.

Tunisia won the first double in 1965 when they lost 2-2 to Ghana in the final before losing to South Africa 2-0 in the 1996 edition, before beating Morocco in the 2004 edition.

The African Nations Cup draw drew Tunisia in Group E alongside Mali, Mauritania and Angola.

Tunisia will open their African Cup of Nations match against Angola on June 24, before Mali and Mauritania face the match.
