The Directorate of Health in Eastern Province carried out 800 kg of horseradish and mullet with large campaigns on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. The Food Control Department of the Directorate and the Food Offices in the governorate launched intensive campaigns on food establishments and markets in Sharkia governorate. The campaign resulted in the execution of 800 kg of food, In addition, 42 health hygienic cases have been released, 66 food samples have been withdrawn and sent to the laboratories to show their suitability for human use, and the concerned authorities have been approached to take action to close a food facility in Zagazig city.

In a related context, Dr. Hisham Massoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, said that the health departments in the province launched intensive campaigns on 1189 food facilities recently, campaign efforts resulted in the seizure of 48 tons and 142 kg of different foods, for poor storage and lack of compliance with health requirements.

In addition, 11,617 kg of food have been culled for the emergence of a change in their natural properties. 1655 sanitary misdemeanors have been released for these establishments. 3791 food samples have been withdrawn and sent to laboratories to show their suitability for human use. The authorities have been approached to take closure measures for 140 food establishments, because there is no permit and there is a serious threat to public health.
