Rep. Reza al-Beltagy, a member of the House of Representatives, said that the Energy and Environment Committee of the Parliament had set up a meeting in the wake of Eid al-Fitr to discuss his request for a briefing on the effects of using plastic bags in transporting and handling food for the health of citizens..

Al-Beltagy warned in a statement to "the seventh day" of the danger of using plastic bags, especially black ones, which represent a serious environmental problem, pointing out that they are made of materials do not decompose and remain influential in the environment and then have serious damage to the soil and plant and human and animal.

He noted that studies indicate that the transfer of foods, especially hot in plastic bags and cans increase the risk of cancer, because of the interaction between food, especially fat and plastic packaging material.

Al-Beltagy pointed out that the large use of these bags increases the risk of cancer and burning in the garbage, resulting in dioxins, which do not decompose in the environment, an internationally banned substance warned by the World Health Organization.
