According to official data issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics [CAPMAS], on the volume of domestic consumption of Egyptian cotton during the first half of the current agricultural season 18/2019 "period from September 2018 to February 2019", there are only 6 governorates of the total governorates of the Republic using local cotton , While the rest of the provinces depend on imported cotton.

The statistical data obtained by the seventh day showed that the 6 governorates that depend on cotton consumption for local cotton and imported cotton were: Alexandria, Suez, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Menoufia, Beheira, Cairo is at the top of the provinces that rely on imported cotton only, and does not consume local cotton.

The data showed that most of the Upper Egypt governorates depend on imported cotton, mainly Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and Giza. The volume of the imported cotton in these governorates during the first half of the current agricultural season reached 906 quintals of Giza, 5161 Qantar of Menia, Assiut, 3193 Kuntar of Sohag, 3494 Qantar of Qena.

The quantities consumed from local cotton in the six governorates mentioned above, as follows: "26.931 thousand quintals of Alexandria, 2123 Kantar of Suez, 4423 Kantar of Dakahlia, 22.626 thousand quintals of the West, 5209 Qantar of Menoufia, 1002 Kantar of the lake, On imported cotton without "local", represented in: "Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Kaliobia".

In addition, 2299 kantars for Qaliubiya and 1257 quintals for Sharkia Governorate, according to official data issued by the Statistics Authority on the consumer of cotton. The quantities of cotton consumed in these governorates were high, 203 quintals of Cairo, 6041 quintals of Damietta, Egyptian governorates during the first half of the current agricultural season.
