National Council for Women: The state seeks to protect women and work to achieve their rights
The National Council for Women, headed by Dr. Maya Morsy, and all its members and members, expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Legislative and Constitutional Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives for approving the Prime Minister's decision to amend some provisions of the Penal Code promulgated by Law No. 58 of 1937, which includes new penalties for not paying the wife's maintenance.
Dr. Maya Morsi expressed her happiness and pride in agreeing to amend the Penal Code to refrain from paying maintenance, stressing that it is fair to women's rights and ensures that the husband is obliged to pay the maintenance on time.
Morsi also pointed out that women live in their golden age under the leadership of a political conscious and secure their capabilities, stressing that the state seeks to protect women and work to achieve their rights.
The Legislative and Constitutional Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives approved the Prime Minister's decision to amend the penalties of the Maintenance Law, which includes the penalty of the beneficiary of paying the maintenance for three months, punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding five hundred pounds.
